AQUEOUS GEM~ I'm so proud of them~
They won!
And they definitely deserve it after all the hardwork they have put in.

I also put in effort by being the Number 1 FAN and the leader of the FAN club haha~ We had a little fan club going on.

We made everyone wear either black or red. My sis paid for the materials for the banners while I made them with some help from the rest of the gals. Nicole and Jacq bought all the stuff that made a hell lot of noise during the dinner.

We definitely enjoyed cheering for the STARS~ Everyone helped in blowing whistles, cheering and holding up the banners while the STARS performed.

I was kinda disappointed when they awarded the 最佳人气奖 to another contestant. We thought we were the loudest of them all! For a second, Me and Weicai looked at each other with super puzzling expressions. But then I realised, that means there's chance for them to be in the top 3. And indeed, they emerged CHAMPION!

My facebook is bombarded with loads of photos and videos of the event. I feel happy when logging into facebook nowadays haha~ It brings back memories of the same event last year.

A year has past just like tat, and I don't feel like I have made the fullest out of this year. It just went past very quietly.

I hope year 2009 will be abit more colourful~

Just attended our first smarky's wedding dinner on sunday night at Conrad. Enjoyed chatting and suan-ing each other at the table haha~ And I sort of can imagine the same's gonna happen for my wedding dinner too.

Throughout the dinner, I was taking little notes in my brain... The whole time I was thinking... 'If it was my wedding, I would...." Crazy crazy me~

I liked the way the dishes were separated into little dishes for individuals. That would be nice if not everyone at the table knows each other. But this took time off from the servers and prevented them from refilling our drinks.

There's one thing that I am always very particular about and that is having an empty glass during the toasting. It will be super embarassing to be holding an empty glass and saying YUM SENG but not being to even sip something out of the glass.

During the dinner, I realised that the MC plays a very very important part in the wedding. Its their responsibility to create the ambience or environment of the whole event. If you have a joker as MC, that would be nice as it lightens up the solemn mood. But how much he/she can joke is the key. Funny is ok. Cheesy / crappy is not!

But if you have a MC that reads from the script and nothing more, then it becomes a really boring evening. If I really have to choose between the two... Oh man~ I cant decide~

I have done MC-ing for 2 weddings and I can't say that I belong to the joker category. I usually leave that to the guy and just go along with the flow. But that will only work well if I know the guy beforehand, where I could predict the kind of jokes he would crack.

Anyway, I've been asked to be the MC for my good friend's wedding coming early december. I hope I will be able to find a balance between funny and boring. One thing that worries me now is that I do not who I'm partnering with. Gosh~

Went to DESARU on friday morning and back on saturday night. Cant say that I had a great time but also cant say that I didnt enjoy myself. It was more like a weekend getaway with lotsa walking, lotsa seafood and lotsa babysitting~ haha



This is the view of sea from where we stayed, SEBANA COVE. Its a nice golf resort, very quiet, and nothing much to do here except swimming with the babies.

We went to the ostrich farm.. this is a baby ostrich just hatched~


This is a male ostrich.. male ones have darker coloured feathers. And this one is apparently from africa... worth RM20,000~~~



Theres alot of ostrich there.. from babies to adult ones. There used to be one where adults could ride on but it passed away.


This ostrich here is shedding feathers... they go through this process every 9 months... looks like plucked chicken hahhaha~


These are a couple of ostrich eggs.. we could actually stand on it and they won't break! I tried and it felt like standing on rocks~




We also went to the crocodile farm that was kinda boring. Waste of time and money hahah~ but alrite for me, cos i've never been to our local crocodile farm.


We went to the beach too.. Just for like 5 mins and it started to rain~ sianzz...

Anyway, the best part of the trip was the food. Yummy~ Pictures to induce drooling hahhah

There is 2 main buildings at my place. One is old building which has been conserved. Another one is a new building that was constructed about 7 yrs ago. These 2 pictures below is the landscaping found in from of the old building.

This is the main garden in front of the new building. I love this garden. It has a water feature with KOIs in it. Plus they have alot of cool structures and statues in all the gardens.

So, I've decided to challenge myself for the coming Ulu Pandan CC competition. I will be singing the song that's playing on my blog now~

Those who can't believe that I can sing and dance! I will prove all of u wrong!

I'm going to have fun with this 'challenge'~

2nd day at work.. Been abit boring becoz theres nothing much to do yet.

DAY 1
Took a cab to work becoz I have no idea which bus stop I am supposed to alight.
Reached office at 8.30am sharp.
Met up with the admin who reports to work at 8am during the fasting month.
The rest of the office slowly walks in at around 9am.

Let me introduce my new colleagues~
There's Mr Lai, my immediate superior who is the manager.
First impression : Looks kinda young, probably early 30's, doesn't look like the fierce and strict type. Should be okie

Then there's Soh, the technical engineer.
First impression : The HAIR~ er... how shud I decribe. Example those centre parting ones are 5-5. he is a 9-1.. looks super funny lor but of cos I don't dare to laugh lah.

Then theres Erica, another technical engineer.
First Impression : She reminds me of CHERYL~ Bubbly character but serious at work. Er.. plump plump cute cute.

Admin's name is Ahdar
First Impression : Sounds very nice on the phone. But speaks rather slow haha
Okie thats about all my colleagues and there a total of 6 technicians over here.

So when Mr Lai walked in, he asked me to his desk and sort of chit chat to know more about my previous work experiences. Briefed me abit on the building history and I was sent back to my desk reading the mechanical systems manual...

SUPER SIANZZ~
I nearly fell asleep on several occasions. Luckily, Soh was nice enough to walk me around the building. Then Soh drove us all out to lunch. It seems that this is the everyday routine, as there is nothing to eat nearby.

6pm sharp left. Took a ride from Soh to the bus stop. Took bus to dhoby ghaut mrt stn, then took NEL, then bus again back home. Tiring man~

DAY 2
Took bus to NEL, NEL to dhoby ghaut then bus to MFA where I have to walk up a super long slope before reaching the building. Took me slighly over an hour. This is shorter than what I expected. I was late, reached at 8.45am and as usual the rest starts walking in at 9am.

Mr Lai called for meeting among us. I was assigned to some services finally~ No more reading of manuals. I will be incharged of Pest Control, Cleaning, Lifts and Central Vacuum. Then Mr Lai walked me around the building, pointing out places where I have to prioritise. Walked one round, back to office again.

~Cheryl.. ur expertise will be much appreciated, I will be bugging u if i have any problems haha~

After lunch, Soh handed over Pest Control and CV to me. Walked me around the building again. This time showed me more of the stuff that I need to know. Its interesting to me coz I have never handed this kinda stuff before.

I'm kinda glad that I won't be incharge of building and plumbing works anymore. I'm so sick of them after so many years. Life in MFA sounds so much easier than army camps. I'm glad I got this job as I will be able to learn more things~

RIBBIT~

My journey in BAS2008 has ended with me going into Revival Round and not qualifying for the finals. I was down with a super bad flu and therefore I did not perform as well as I could. Was kinda sad but anyway, I'm still going to genting~!

That's because... DOUGLAS AND GABRIEL are in the finals for the group category~!

Happy! This time round, I can go up to genting and enjoy myself rather than being so busy with rehearsals and stuff the previous time.

Here's the clip of my performance for the semis. I sang my favourite song and I think I did well. And its all thanks to Weicai for taking these clips.

Douglas is the person who signed me up for my first singing competition. Thanks for introducing the thrills of competitions into my life.

Lastly, I would like to really thank all of you for being part of my life.

I got into the semis for the solo category. I didn't perform to my best this time. I was kinda nervous on stage which makes me wonder why. It might be the new venue that affected me abit. But overall, I'm still glad the I qualify for the semis. At least there is still something to look forward to. My semis will be held on 2nd Sept. Got to crack my brains to choose a good song again.

Someone actually asked me if I wanted to get to the finals. I did ask myself that question too. I can't really answer that. I really liked the experience I had a Genting, though it was a really tiring process. But if I really have the chance to go Genting, I will definitely go give it my best and enjoy myself again.

Me, Doug and Gab went for another competition held at West Coast CC last sunday. Its my first time competing in a CC. There were lotsa really experienced and seasoned contestants. We were having a good time watching the performances by those veterans who sang hokkien and cantonese songs.

All of us qualifed for the finals which will be held on 20th Sept at Ulu Pandan CC. Let's hope at least one of us can get into the top 10 and win some money. haha~

I should have seen it coming. I was feeling uneasy the whole day.

Today is the quarter-finals for BAS group category.
We only managed to practice last night. Hope its good enough to qualify for semis.

I hope I won't laugh in my partner's face while singing tonight.
I hope his voice won't crack from all the coughing.

It still feels kinda weird coz it will be the first time performing a duet in public.

I realised I sound kinda inconfident after reading what I have just typed.
Maybe its the song choice, maybe its my high notes, maybe its my harmonising,
Or maybe its just me~ the inconfidence me...

SAKI SAKI resume works~~

Found new job liao~ HAPPY~~

Its really time to find a new job. Manager is leaving and therefore I shall leave too. I do not want to waste any more of my time in the army sector. I really want to branch out to the commercial or even retail sector.

I even took the time to update up resume until "SAKI SAKI". Hope this will help me find a new job soon.

I've already sent out my applications and received a few phonecalls. Most of the agencies are looking for QS but I have told them that I prefer to go into property management instead.

I have managed to secure 2 interviews for next week. One of them is with my current client company but of a totally different department. I'm still wondering if I should go for it because I don't know if this will affect my relationship with my current boss. The current company has been okay to me but I really want to get out of the army sector so badly.

Well, I guess I will still go for the interview and see how it goes from there.

Anyone who have lobang for property management positions, please do recommend me.

The singing sessions all went rather well. Could have been better. I now realised the most important thing that I lack is stage presence. I can't seem to make passerbys be interested in my singing. I should really improve on that.

Attended Alan's wedding last thursday. We havent really been in contact ever since I left SMM which is over 3 years ago. I was abit reluctant to attend initially but in the end, I decided to treat it as a gathering. I was glad I went as I got to catch up with Cheryl, Vincent and Goh. We used to hang out very often for coffee back in PLAB. But I was kinda sad that all of us did not get to sit together.

Cheryl did ask my why I was so dressed up. hahaha~ Of coz have to mah... I purposedly went home and changed. I can't possibly show up in jeans right? If that's the case, I might as well went straight after work. Another reason is that I seldom get to wear my dresses, so I will try to grab all chances to make my money worthwhile.

So, the next time any of you guys see me in dress, don't ask my why. I'm still a gal after all mah...

The auditions went rather well especially when you see familiar faces in the judging room. I sang only 3 lines lor!!! hahaha crazy...

I'm supposed to be memorising lyrics for the upcoming event performance. 4 songs!!~~ How to remember so much lyrics!!!??? Die die must remember...

Oh, I hurt my back again. Its one stupid sneeze again. I was telling douglas about it and this is what he replied me...

Must cultivate habit to sneeze out of your mouth (abit loud la), don’t keep the pressure. Very dangerous.

And always keep your head up before sneezing. And don’t slouch. Tighten your stomach muscle abit before sneeze.

Try to maintain upright posture, never bend down your neck too much, as that will channel the burst down your spine.

A sneeze is only a 1sec thing, where got time to so much??? haha

But what he said is very true. He's a 'pioneer' of back problems and therefore I should really take his advice.

July is the month of singing and more singing... haha... I LIKE~

The auditions for BAS 08 are starting soon. Our Solo auditions are tomorrow and I hope we will not be facing much problems. As for our group auditions, it will be a week later.

Regarding LWSSOM's performance, I have confirmed the 4 songs that I'll be performing. I have never perform any of the songs before and I'm really excited about it because they are all my favourite songs!

I haven't even chosen my songs!! Die liao lah~

Mandarin song should be no problem for me, but english songs... oh no, how how how?? What songs to choose?

The only english songs I sing are those of Stephanie Sun's. I can't possibly sing so many of her songs as I'm planning to sing '奔' as my fast number choice.

Hmm.. any suggestions? Not to difficult ones hor... my english not to powderful...

I'm thinking of Silent all These Years and maybe Ironic by Alanis Morissette. Are they appropriate?

Be A Star 2008 is here again and guess what? I'm going to be part of it again... haha

Cannot blame me lah, there isn't much excitement in my life and therefore singing competitions do add some spice to my life.

This time round, they brought back the group category. Initially, I wasn't very keen to join the competition but in the end, I decided to dragged Weicai along for the group category. I do find abit of chemistry between us and the most important thing is... Mr Weicai here does not get stage-frights and is super confident. I hope we can do well and I'm targeting the SEMIS.

Last night, we were at KTV to register and choose songs for the competition. Douglas and Gabriel are joining the group catergory too. Them and Nicole are also joining the Solo category.

Itchy-backside me couldn't resist it and decided to join the Solo category too. haha So many kakis joined, I also must join in the fun mah...

So, its $50 down the drain this time...

Well, $50 for some spice in my life, I think its very worth it.

So its back to practicing and remembering lyrics once again... Bless me!

I'm back from HK!! Had a great time eating and shopping and gambling in Macau, Zhuhai and HK.

Gambling was cool in Macau becoz all of us won money!! haha... other than that, I cant recall much from the trip haha

Shopping was great for matt's sis and mom at Zhuhai but not me. Couldnt find anything of my liking over there... But the seafood dinner was superb!!! Thats the best seafood meal I've ever taken!!!

HK was full of good food! Of cos, Disneyland was the most memorable of all! Guess why???

Forgot to mention the funniest thing that happened on sat noon...

Some of us smarkys decided to go watch Broadway Beng 3 together. So everything was confirmed and Winnie was assigned to buy the tickets. She was afraid that she might forget to bring the tickets down and therefore decided to pass them to Jane.

So, we were all supposed to meet at the venue about half an hour before showtime. I met up with Huiying and Yanru first who were already having some drinks downstairs. About 10 minutes or less, Meiyin, Winnie and Jane arrived. Yanru started to make her way towards them while me and Huiying slowly walked over. Then suddenly, I realised the 4 of them were laughing super loudly and I could see a super shocked expression on Jane's face.

I vaguely heard the conversation between Jane and Yanru...

Yanru : what u all laughing about?
Jane : How come got 3 more people here??
Yanru : ??????
Jane (pointing to the 5 tickets in her hands) : I only got 5 tickets here leh!!!

bahahahahahahahaha... should have taken a video of what happpened...

So we found out that Winnie only bought 5 tickets!!!! And the best thing is, she turned over to me and told me that she thought I was not joining them for the show!!!!! FAINTZZZZ...

So in the end, we sped up to the entrance and tried to check for leftover tickets but unfortunately, they were all sold out. Well, no fate lah.. First I missed Dim Sum Dollies with them and now this. In the end, they proceeded to the show while I went over to Bugis Junction to hang out for over an hour cos we were all supposed to have dinner to celebrate Jane's birthday.

Anyway, I'm okay with it. Just treating it as if I've saved money since some of them didn't find the show worthwhile. Save money more important... hehe

Well, its not anyone's fault lah.. just some miscommunication only... I won't take this to heart. No one wanted this to happen anyway... But it was sure funny hahahaa

So many happy things to share...

1) MAN UTD is in the Champions League Finals!!! So happy! But was kinda sad that Liverpool lost to Chelsea. So its Man U and Chelsea once again and this time round, Man U better win!!! hehe

2) Ting won! Yippee! Was super happy for her and she definitely deserved it! And she sang my favourite A-mei song! Kenneth did well too! One of his best performance ever!

3) I had a superb time at Lunar last night. We were there around 8.45pm and the guys got free flow of housepour till 9.30pm. And of cos, Weicai couldn't let the free flow go to waste and started to make us play 5-10. Drink until siao! Was high even before the finals started. Crazy man! Heng the free flow was until 9.30pm only, cant imagine what would have happened if the free flow was for the whole night. Guess I would most likely be camping in there hahaha

During the finals, I was screaming for Ting and I was so happy that my screams were not wasted. After that, we went outside to chit chat and chill out for awhile. Went back in after that and then the crazy stuff started... We were all crammed in the dance floor shaking our booties away haha... Havent done that for a really long time and I definitely missed doing that...

Wonder when will this crazy drinking and dancing session be happening again?

Ok, most of you out there know that I'm a Manchester United Fan. Even my name supports me to be one haha (Some friends call me MAN for short and my surname is YUE which is pronounced as U... See I'm MAN U too!!!)

Chelsea just won the most critical match of the season. If Man Utd were to have beaten Chelsea, they would have won the title altogether.

Why the linesman have such GREAT EYESIGHT?? Really can see Carrick's unintentional handball meh? Wah Piang!! I was quite happy with a draw but the penalty changed my entire mood man! Super ANGRY!!! Since they now have the same points, neither one can afford to make any mistakes. I really hope Man Utd can win the title!!

But still, I had a great laugh when I saw Ballack and Drogba fighting over the right to take a free kick. It was super funny! The very first time I see players of the same team quarrelling with each other.

After the 停电 incident, I'm really craving for KTV now coz I only sang like 3 songs that night lor!!!!

The 'suay-est' thing happened to me on monday night.

Doug jio-ed me to ktv at around 6.30pm and of course, I couldn't reject the offer. So I happily changed, made my way down by cab and reached the ktv at around 7.45pm.

We were happily singing and then suddenly, the whole room 停电!!! Apparently, it already tripped twice even before I reached the place. My sis was saying that after the 2nd time, everything went back to normal for quite awhile.

The people there tried to reset it but failed. After they reset it, it will somehow trip again after a few minutes. So in the end, the waiter came in and asked us if we still wanted to continue singing or we can choose to leave and they will not charge us a cent. Since they were unable to get things to work, we had no choice but to leave.

So we lingered in the room for a short while, finishing up our drinks before leaving. While we were doing that, a few thoughts came through our minds...

Doug : OEI! I want my voucher back leh!

SIS : aiya... I want to sing 你是我心内的一首歌 leh...

Doug : Got lah. we sang halfway mah... I want to sing 察肩而过 lah...

But mine was the best!


ME : wah piang! Why didn't we order BEER?!?!?! FOC LEH!!!

I had a very good chilling-out friday night.

Matt, Sis and Doug came over to my place for dinner. After dinner, all of crammed ourselves onto my bed to watch the final episode of the CH8 9pm show. I'm suspecting that my bed is going to give way sooner than expected.

After dinner, Doug and sis wanted to go out and hang out with some of his frens. So, boring me decided to tag along with them while my dearest Matt went home to rest as he had to work the next day.

Matt dropped us at Sin Ming where they had a pond of prawns for people to 'fish'. We sat down, ordered some beer, chicken wings and hang out while his friend slowly turned up one by one. After finishing bout 4 bottles of beer, one of his friend mentioned KTV and all of us jumped at the idea! haha So the whole gang of us proceed to IB for a 3hr ktv session with more beer.

After singing, doug (as usual) proposed to have supper at our favourite Mutton soup prata joint. So off we went again. We took his fren's vehicle and then we came to a T-junction where all of us were not sure to go left or right.

Fren : er... left or right huh?? I forgot already..
Sista : Er... I think we should turn left, right?
Doug : wah piang! LEFT OR RIGHT??
ME : HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

When at the prate joint, Doug was telling his frens about the joint's Mutton soup being on his Best Mutton Soup List.

Doug : I tell u ah... never bluff u. Their Mutton Soup here is very good! Its ranked 5th on my list of best mutton soup I've ever tried.
ME : ya... u've only tried like... 5 mutton soup???
REST : hahahahahaha

Hmm... I'm still missing my NIQQI SPECIAL...

I'm back from the movie...

I managed to keep my concentration for an hour, the next hour I was half watching and half day-dreaming. Definitely not my kind of movie. Would prefer to watch horror flicks but my dearest Matt doesnt enjoy them.

But I did learnt a bit deal from the movie. Those character which I mentioned earlier did appear in the movie except 吕步.

Some things that I learnt:
赵子龙 was the hero who saved 刘备's baby boy from getting killed by 曹操's army and went on to become one of the 5 heros of 属国.

The 5 heros were 关羽， 张飞，马超，黄忠， 赵云(赵子龙).

刘备's baby boy, 阿斗 grew up to be useless guy who couldn't continue his father's dream to 统一中国.

关羽's son is 关兴 who (in the movie) was always at loggerheads with 张飞's son 张苞 (reminds me of 荷包蛋.. see I told you I was day-dreaming lor).

曹樱 was 曹操’s granddaugher.

Well, I think thats all I can remember. People who are crazy about Romance of the Three Kingdoms would enjoy this movie. But sad to say, I'm not one of them. Another similar movie is in the making and Matt is talking about catching the movie when its out... Bless me...

On the way home, Matt was complaining about why he will always feel tired after watching a movie...

We were in the car, driving around aimlessly after sending his aunt back to TPY.

Then he decided that he wanted to go to CLEMENTI to buy some plants for his fish tank.

Him : go clementi k? I can show u the shop where I always buy my fish stuff from and also I wanna get some water plants for my tank.

Me : win liao lor... for ur fish, can go allllllllll the way to clementi. But for me, NIQQI special (which is also in clementi) is TOOOOOOOOOOOO FAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Man Utd THRASHED Liverpool!!!

I was at Lunar with Weicai watching the Hark competition/showcase. While watching the performance, I managed to catch glances of the match. I think I was more excited about the match than I was about the competition haha

The match was great! I was so excited when Liverpool was 1 man down haha... I knew Man Utd was going to kick Liverpool's butt. I would be happier if Chelsea had drawed with Arsenal instead of beating them.

Back to the hark competition, I was eliminated from the competition and therefore I get to watch them instead of competing with them on stage. It was nice to be the audience for the night especially when I could feel the tiredness and nerves from the remaining competitors.

Most of them did great, all of them improved. While watching, I suddenly had mixed feelings. I was kinda upset that I did not get another chance to prove myself on stage but on the other hand, I was rather glad to have been eliminated after watching the strong competitors on stage. I'm glad that I was eliminated quietly from the competition instead of facing it on stage.

I got a short 15min chance to the guest judge for one of the PK round. I really though Cherry have improved alot since the first week and would have been happier if she had won the PK.

Sadly, Tat Sin was eliminated in the end. He didnt do well for his PK round and therefore he was awarded rather low marks as compared to the rest. I believe it was nerves that got to him. He should have done much better but I guessed he was nervous as he was facing a very strong PK competitor and the band (YES!! them again!!) played his song slower than the original song.

After announcing that he was to leave the competition, he was asked to sing his PK song once again. But this time round, he did it very well! He was himself, relaxed and exactly the way he would have been. I was rather sad to have played a part for his elimination. Now, I can understand how judges feel when it comes to elimination.

I've changed my blogskin once again! haha.. And i'm loving it!

I'm ready to pop out of my little bubble.

I just need a little push and maybe some alcohol will speed up the process even more...

I'm BACK!!!

I am very affected by some sudden unforeseen incident. I know its beyond my control but still it was a big blow to take. I've been too optimistic about it. I know its some external factors that resulted in this but I still cannot accept the fact that this is happening.

WHY ME?
Why did my best song turn out to be such a disaster?
Why did I have to be so affected by the band who played my song much slower than the original song?
Why didn't I try harder to to make it known to the drummer while singing?
Why did I have to get the lowest marks?
Why was I the one who had to go?
Why am I taking this elimination so hard?
Why can't I get another chance to prove myself better this coming week?

There so many different kind of emotions running thru my mind now. My thoughts are in a big mess...

I'm angry and really sad because...
~I blame the band
~I know I should have done something when I know the tempo wasn't right
~I did try to make eye contact with the band but he just didn't see me
~It was supposed to be my 'most confident song' but I screwed it up.
~I did not expect the elimination as we were told that there will be no elimination until much later
~I thought would be given another chance to prove myself but no, there is no more chance.
~My friends are expecting to watch my performance but I let them down.
~I know i'm much better than some of the other competitors

I'm so lost in this situation. I really have no idea why I am so affected. I am a optimistic person and therefore this should not get to me. I should be able to handle this like any other elimination. But no, its not going that way.

I've been to higher grounds and therefore this is a much harder fall to take. I'm refusing to pick myself up yet.

I really was looking forward to enjoying this event but now I'm suddenly feeling so aimless.

The whole 'Be A Star' journey will be ending soonz. Mixed feelings again...

Feeling sad that everything will be ending in 3 more days. I enjoyed every moment of it. Its a little preview of how its like being an artiste. We had 2 roadshow performance, one which i've mentioned and the other one on 24th Nov at Hereen. The second show was much more fun and not forgetting the group song that JJ and Ashley specially tailor-made for us. We did our share of studio recording for the group song too. Its weird hearing myself on cd haha... Although everyone have just one small part of the song, its the experience that matters. We also did an individual 30 secs video clip of us introducing ourselves which will be aired during the finals right before we sing our competition song. It feels funny speaking into the camera without any response from a live person haha... Well, it took me 2 takes to get the video right.

My confidence level have been a roller coaster ride recently. At times, I feel rather confident but more of the times, I would doubt myself and wonder how i got into the finals. There are a few very strong competitors, some with strong vocals and some with strong stage presence. I lack in stage presence and also my dress sense is kinda low as compared to the rest of the girls. Stupid thoughts have been running through my head. I would imagine myself being very much under-dressed as compared to the rest. Or, I would slip and fall on the stage... crazy me...

But overall, I'm feeling rather excited about the trip up to genting, the final showdown and of coz, the crazy photo-taking sessions with the rest of them. I will try to enjoy myself as much as possible.

Yesterday's performance was fun! hehe... I think all the contestants enjoyed their individual moment on stage and of cos the crazy photo-taking sessions backstage!

It was rather tiring because I had to be at beauty world for the make-up at 10.30am! I got abit lost and only managed to reach at 11am haha... so i didnt have to wait too long for my turn. This time round, the make up was so much better than the photoshooting one. At least, we still can recognise each other after the make-up.

After make-up, the whole gang of us went to macdonalds for brunch and relaxed there abit till about 1pm. The crazy photo-taking sessions started in the coach on the way to Suntec. haha.. all of them whipped out their cameras and starting snapping away.. I wanna get a digicam too!!!

The performance started around 2pm and lasted till around 4.30pm. By then, all of us were 'battery-flat' haha... but it was a great experience for me! The first time for me singing in such a big place.

Thanks papa mama for coming.... And of cos nicole, chris and my ah bui for coming too! haha...

Oh, chris commented that, as compared to the other finalists, my looks are average, singing average, dressing average... the only thing I'm strong at is my facial expressions haha.. then he starts mimicking me...

Well, I know I won't be able to win the competition because the rest of them can sing so well! And most of the girls are so much more prettier than i am and they have a great sense of fashion.

I'm not so competitive anymore especially after listening to their performance yesterday. I'm kinda losing my confidence and thinking how I actually managed qualify for the finals in the first place. Its pure luck I guess... hehe

Anyway, I'm contented to be in the finals with the other great singers. I just love to perform and I will definitely enjoy my moment everytime I'm on stage. And thats enough already...

Friends around are obtaining degrees while I'm still a diploma holder. Their salaries are jumping while mine is getting rather stagnant.

Yes, I did try to pursue for a degree too but the school closed down on me after I got my advance diploma.

I should be going for my degree at another school which is willing to accept us with some exemptions but the tuition fee is a headache for me.

I did try saving up for my studies a few years back but a family crisis wiped out my savings in less than 4 months.

Now, i'm a proud owner of a HDB flat but am cashless.

I've just discovered that I am unable to convert my private bank loan to a HDB loan even after 3 years. I'm stucked with a private bank loan with sky-high interest.

So,studying is impossible at this point of my life and therefore I will remain a diploma holder.

After three years of trying, I FINALLY GOT INTO THE FINALS!!!!

WOOHOO!! GENTING HERE I COME!!!!!!!

Wanna thank alot of people leh.... although this is only finals... i already feel like a winner....

Douglas : for introducing me to the thrill of competitions and all the advices that I need to improve myself...

Sis : for the support and time spent on all our ktv sessions.. giving valuable comments from an audience point of view. taking time out to accompany me for the make-up appt..

Lotsa stuff to update!!!

Summary:

1) Caught a few musical and theatre stuff.

Caught Ti Tou Dao, not bad.

Caught Broadway Beng Retuns and definitely enjoyed it as much as the first one.

Caught Phantom of the Opera, love the songs but somehow regretted not watching the first run with Sarah Brightman in it.

Wanted to catch Dim Sum Dollies, went to buy tickets and found out that it was already the last day, therefore missed it again.

2) Caught some concerts too!

Went to Ukelele's and totally fell in love with Lim Zhi Xuan's voice. He sings so much better than CD! Didnt like the venue though, never will I catch a concert at Expo ever cos the sitting arrangement sucks and the sound system wasnt as good too.

Caught the best concert ever and that was Jacky Cheung's!!! He sang so many classics and it was 3 half hours long! I cant imagine a better performance from him! He really is god-like.

3) Caught a few movies.

Fantastic four wasn't as fantastic but the Silver Surfer was kinda cool though.

Harry Potter & The Order of Pheonix was not as good as I expected cos I've read the book and therefore expected to see more. But overall, the movie was well filmed.

Transformer was such a big hit and I can't believe that I missed it. gotta wait for dvd.

4) Met up with POH! Yeah, she was back for a month but we only got to meet up twice. But it was nice to catch up and it also reminded me of the fun I have over at her place. Wanna save up and make another trip over again...

5) Met up with smarkys on a few occasions. Enjoyed those gossip sessions and catching up with each other makes me realise how much we have changed since school times. We used to be more carefree, hanging out at kovan after tuition classes, celebrating out birthdays at macdonalds, going sentosa so very often, all our chalets and sentosa huts stays. Nowadays, we have to worry about our family, finance, work, relationships. Well, that's life I guess. Its nice to be able to open up to friends about all these and also hearing it from them. Its comforting to know that they are willing to listen and give each other the encouragement we all need.

6) Qualified for the semis for Be A Star Singing Competition held by partyworld. Its my first time getting into the semis and I was sooooooo happy! And the thing is, matt's family came down to support me and i meant the whole family except his dad and one of his bro-in-law. There were 9 of them! Of cos, doug and sis came too! Doug's bro came too, with a fren of his. Ed and Jacq too! I had so many supporters! When i was called on stage, they were shouting for me! haha.. so paisey and happy at the same time. When I went up on stage, i realised my supporters took up 3 rows of the audience! haha... I did well and I thought this was my best performance ever. Probably because there were so many supporters and they boosted my confidence to the highest level. Come to think of it, the judge might have feared being beaten up by my supporters and therefore had to let me through... hahaha

This summary somehow remind me of how much i have been spending... going bankrupt soonz... :(

300 was great without the part were I had to go fetch matt's inhaler from his lorry right in the middle of the movie.

Just as we entered the cinema, matt commented about the place being stuffy. And soon he started having difficulty in breathing. I volunteered to go get his inhaler cos the adverts were still on but he presumed that he would be fine in awhile. So we continued watching the movie.

About fifteen minutes into the movie, he was still having difficulties and so I had to go fetch his inhaler from the lorry. And it was then that i realised how bloody big VIVO is! I had to walked right to the other end of the building and back. Guess it took me at least 15mins even when i was walking at top speed.

After i got back into the cinema, I was the one who needed the inhaler more than him! I was literally panting from the top-speed walking. Wah piang!

Well, at least i didnt miss the battles in the movie. The front part of the movie was rather crappy though. The battles were great! I kinda enjoyed the movie more than i would have expected.

Next, I'm looking forward to catching TMNT! haha.. they were my childhood heroes! haha.. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael & my favourite Michelangelo!

movies week

Caught two movies during the pass 3 days.

Watched 'Pursuit of happiness' on monday. Its a nice show and its based on the true story, so it cant really get too exciting. I enjoyed Will Smith's acting, and also his son's! His son is really cute! But the show's kinda depressing though. After exiting the cinema, Doug keep complaining that he felt very depressed. haha... overall, i kinda liked the movie.

Caught the Rain movie last nite with my parents and my sis. It was my sis and mum's idea to watch the show and so they kinda proposed it to be a family excursion and so me and my dad were both dragged along to watch the movie. Its a rather dumb movies with lame jokes. I nearly fell asleep in the cinema. And my dad was almost cursing the movie haha... tat was kinda funny though. After the movie ended, my mum was like... "ay, like tat finish liao ah". Well, i wouldn't recommend people to catch this show unless u are a really big fan of RAIN.

Will be catching 300 tomolo night with the ktv gang. I'm not really looking for it cos I dun really enjoy this kinda movie. Oh well, i hope the theatre seats are comfy over at VIVO City.

My sister's wedding was a blast man! I totally enjoyed it.. especially the part where we get to 'tekan' my bro-in-law.. wahaha The dinner banquet was even better.. I totally think it was one of a kind!

I'm still waiting for the photos and videos cos i dun think i am able to blog about the wedding cos it will be too long!!! Maybe I will sum it up when i have the extra time.

Been rather bz at work recently due to financial year ending and I'm beginning to think tat I'm like a fireman in the company. Whenever a colleague leaves, i will be the one covering up the duties for them while they get someone new. This is becoz I'm the so-called most 'senior' person in this department and therefore I am the most suitable to take over whatever positions. I'm currently dropped off from my original duties to take over the post of doing up reports and invoices.. machiam admin and accounts lor.. but then what to do... until they get someone to take over I have to cover these duties first.

Another sickening thing is... I sprained my back with a stupid sneeze on saturday night. I was happily going down the escalator towards the meeting point and I sneezed! Then, i could feel the pain immediately and in my head I went... "this time die liao..." This happened a couple of years ago and so I could foresee the amount of pain that I will hav to go through... Couldn't sleep at night coz I couldn't turn as easily as I could. The pain was worse on sunday... The chinese physician not opened on sunday.. so therefore I could only go today. Had to go and get a MC from a GP before tat cos the company only recognises GP' MC. Spent $60 in total for all the medical bills.. Damn sianz... but feeling better now... hopefully the pain will not come back tomolo....

Having alot of mixed feelings now...

My sister will be getting married this coming friday. I am very happy for her to find a good husband. Douglas is a really great guy. He cares for his friends, family and of cos my sister very much. He's the best friend to hang out with for ktv and drinks. He also can be the best brother who listens and gives u advice.

But...

Suddenly, I feel like I'm losing my only sibling... I've been sharing a room with my sister for the past 25yrs. We even share the same bed up until today. She dotes on me very much. Although she can be rather naggy at times. When we were younger, we were not very close as our age gap is rather huge. She is 7yrs my senior. Therefore, we were always in different stages of life. By the time i start going into primary school, she have already graduated and went on to secondary. And when i went into secondary, she was already in poly. We didnt have much to talk about when we were younger. I would always complained about her being able to come home later the me and she would always think im a little gal whom i really was.

We only started to hang out more often during my poly times. After working for a few yrs, she went on to quit her job and took up a full time degree. That's when we started to have common topics on school. We used to bring out the mahjong table and put it in the living room during exam times. We would both study together throughout the night with the tv playing our favourite movie, Pretty woman. Before the arrival of the lunar new year, we would both go down to bugis junction to hunt for new clothes and then bring our parents along the following weekend to buy all our new clothes together.

Actually, we should also thank Douglas for bringing us even closer to each other. Douglas also likes singing and therefore we started going to ktv and singing competitions together. With these, we hung out even more often. And after knowing the KTV gang, we hang out at least twice a week for either movies or ktvs.

After moving into our new place, my cousins came to live with us. Almost everynite, we would ask our younger cousin to buy macdonalds supper. We even became crazy once when we stayed up until 4am just to enjoy macdonalds breakfast. And during days where all of us were home for dinner, we would play mahjong with mom and dad.

Months ago, I was still rather excited about her wedding. We have been running around to make arrangements for her wedding. Planning the wedding banquets, and planning the songs for her march in and also preparing to sing for her wedding. Its not until yesterday, while i was cropping her march in song, that I started to feel rather emotional. It suddenly hit me that she will be moving into another phase of her life and also moving out of this house. I will be having the room to myself which should be a happy thing. But, somehow i feel rather lonely realising that I will be the only one watching the tv and sleeping on queen sized bed.

But anyhow, I still hope her wedding day will be smooth and fun. I still look forward to the fun I will be having on the wedding day.

I sincerely wish my sis and my future bro-in-law a blissful marriage.

I went to catch Lee Hom's concert and I enjoyed it tremendously! haha.. He' my new idol now.

He's so talented... He could play so many musical instruments. First he started with playing the guitar, then he went on to the piano, then the drums... then his best which was the violin! Finally, he even played the er hu!!! wah piang! I really think he can play any musical instrument thrown at him!

The best part of the concert was when he played the violin. He played a movie soundtrack and I could feel the song and was very touched! I never knew violin can sound like this! Amazing!

ok.. in the end, he called and we went down to swim..

had a rather good time teaching JB how to swim.. haha he manged to swim a few strokes after 2 hours haha... funny

after dinner, went to ed's place for mj.... (wet and dry swimming all in one day!! haha) and lost money.. sianz

was not feeling well on monday due to a very bad throat.. to add to the boredom.. i lost my voice and so.. no ktv sessions for me... monday.. went dinner with his family to celebrate his bro's bday.. after dinner went to his place.. had the usual cake blowing, cutting and eating ceremony... went home after tat....

tuesday... went dinner with matt after work... then went home and rot... sis not at home.. cousin busy maple-ing... no one to chat with... watch tv and rot and slept...

wednesday... supposed to go out dinner... but matt knocked off late.. so tabao and went home to eat with parents... same procedure.. no one to chat... watch tv and rot and slept..

thursday... went dinner with jb and co... at holland... after dinner... kopi session at coffeebean... decided to go mind cafe on the the next day... great.. looking forward to some fun the next day....

friday... matt decided not to go mind cos he too tired... sianz.. spoil my day... waited for him to take dinner... only fetched me at 9pm.. nearly died of hunger.. but canot blame him.. cos he bq at work... go dinner.. go home.. same procedure... already damn pissed.. cos its friday! supposed to be fun day.... nvm... look forward to saturday...

saturday... dinner with his family again to celebrate his sis bday this time... after dinner.. went to his place... watch the repeat telecast of sg idol... then he fell asleep... received sms from huiying.. supper! yeah.. at last some activity!.. happy.. huiying came to pick me... matt smsed me.. angry cos i never accompany him.... he sleeping!! accompany him for wat???? watch him sleep!!!??? sickening.. dun care.. still go supper and went to loyang temple with the gals.. had a rather good time...

sunday.. today... supposed to go nic's place.. bowling and swimming.. already planned this days ahead... happy... hopefully matt would have got enough rest to have fun today... but then no... smsed him in the morning... asked him.. he say sick.. dun wan go ... WIN LIAO LOR!! wat he wans man!!?? wanna bore me to death izzit?? i tot he angry.. so i apologize and asked him to go swimming... but he still replied tat he sick... wah lau! very pissed lor.. nvm.. stay at home lor.. watch tv... then he smsed me ask me where i was.. told him im home.. then he say.. never go nic's place meh?? felt like punching him lor! then i told him.. if i go.. he sure angry.. then he replied.. wan to go to his place accompany him... wah lau eh.. i already so bored.. still ask me to go to his place and rot???!!! so i replied him.. since he wana rest.. then ask him to sleep lah.. while i rot another sunday away.. he replied.. angry... say if i not happy then dun go his place... i replied him a very long sms... complaining to him.. say... he should know i have been rotting the whole week away.. of cos looking forward to some fun in the weekends.. then he wana rest so i let him rest and go out with smarkys.. hoping he can go out today.. then he never reply..

Some little updates...

Less chance to sing at harkmusic nowadays as they have kinda change their programmes. They have a ktv system for weekdays and therefore they decided to forego the 1 hr singer theme. But there's still chance to sing on weekends. Just did one earlier this month, and the results were not bad heehee... have no idea when will be my next session... just wait lor...

This month is SOCCER MONTH!! been catching most of the world cup matches and of cos bet a little at the singapore pools.. still positive lah... but hard to say... haha Almost every night, we will be at chijmes watching the live telecast of the first match... i like the atmosphere there.. its better than watching it at home.. heehee

Will most probably update after i recover from the world cup fever...

Yeah! I finally received my demo cd!... haha.. listened to it and now I realise why I can never be a recording artiste. I don't sound good on record.. well fated lah..

My cousins listened to it and said that I sounded like a teenager singing... haha *faintz*

But it's definitely fun listening to myself on the speakers haha....

I'm enjoying my own singing... LALALA~~~

I still havent received my demo cd! I called them last thursday telling the guy that I have yet to receive it after 3 weeks. He went to check and called me back saying that he will send me another one. I hope I will be able to receive it this week...

Cant wait anymore lah....

My solo session at harkmusic well rather well. I was not at my best condition as I was still coughing after a month. I guess thats also why Amos didnt 'tekan' me during the performance. It was definitely nice working with Amos and Yuhong as they were the best instumentalist there. I had fun and sang my hearts out, coughing and sipping water in between songs. I did not mention anything about my cough during the performance as I did not want the audience to think I trying to get their 'pity votes'. After the one hour, I went back down to join doug and co. at one of the tables and it definitely felt relaxed after the stressful hour. I was very nervous before the performance as I was not very confident of myself due to my cough. Well, I did the best I could.

The votes were fine.. I got 79% of positive votes and I was glad man! haha.. I duno if I still wanna try it but definitely not in the near future...

The recording wasnt as fun as I thought it would be, but still it was a good experience. First time in a studio was quite exciting actually. Recorded 2 songs in an hour. The demo will be sent to me in a week's time. Anxiously waiting for it now.. hehe

Oh, i think i did not mention anything about my performance at Harkmusic. It was fun working with guitarist and keyboardist. They were fun to be with and it made the whole performance fun! Sang with douglas 2 weeks ago for the first time. My sec sch mates came and support me! so sweet of them and so many of them! There were 7 of them! my goodness! haha.. but thanz dude!

Last week, one of the singer MIA and therefore they called me to replace her to partner with another gal, Meredith. I've seen her around but never heard her sing till the day we performed. It was her first time and therefore she was rather nervous but I do think she did well, even better than my first time haha... Well, second time, and so I didnt feel as excited and nervous. I think i did better than the previous time.

Its back to me and doug this weekend. Hopefully, it will turn out better than the last week. Oh! My solo performance is coming up next sat! Damn excited as the boss will be the guitarist and I heard he will 'tekan' the singer and in turn the audience will vote for me to be back next month or not... my goodness~~

Remember the recording package i mentioned earlier on? Well, they are unable to change the time slot for him and therefore they have decided to let me have a go at it. HAPPY!!! haha... well, i definitely do not deserve it, but in order to not let the package go to waste.. OF COS I will be going lah!~~~

Well, its this coming sunday from 3-4pm, I'll need to bring my own vcds down. Required to prepare 2 songs... So most likely will be Yanzi's songs again! haha.. well.. i seldom buy vcds and therefore.. no choice lah... only have yanzi's haha

Excited about it man! It will be done in a professional recording studio. KOOL~

Good news! Doug is the March champion for harkmusic cafe's competition! ( http://www.harkmusic.com/cafe/main.htm ) So happy for him! And so he's got better prizes than me haha He won himself a guitar too but in addition to that, he's got a recording session where he gets to do up a demo cd. So kool! They have arranged for him to go down on 9th apr but he has to go on a business trip. So he's still trying to check whether he can change the date if not it will all be wasted.

Another good news is, both me and douglas have been chosen to be trainee singers at harkmusic cafe. We will be making our debut performance on tomoro. We will singing for an hour and we havent made any preparations yet! haha.. well, hope my cough and his sorethroat will not destroy the whole performance tomoro.. * fingers crossed*

We are also scheduled to sing on 16th, and 30th April. Oh! I also have a solo session on 22nd Apr. If anyone wanna hear me sing, just drop by okie? hehe~~
